I am a boutique chocolatier based in Bicester, Oxfordshire. I am a mother of 3 grown up children who call me Mumma. When I am in the kitchen, everybody wants to know what delights are being created; from here, Mumma’s Kitchen Delights was born and my passion for making sweet treats for my family and friends has been extended to you and your families.
The name of my chocolate shop business was born from a charming Christmas present; a plaque and apron given to me from my children, as a result of constantly walking past the kitchen to hear “Just try this!” – a phrase which is now worn with pride in the form of the perfect business strapline.
I was one of the many people who struggled through the pandemic and I took refuge in my “happy place”, the kitchen and became fully immersed in my affection for confection, sending to family and friends as gifts. I was overwhelmed with the positive feedback from them, I decided to expand my chocolate delights beyond my own family to you and your families.
Everybody loves chocolate. That’s the motive behind Mumma’s Kitchen Delights. My aim is to hit the ultimate sweet spot of making other people happy through chocolate, so after 21 years of being an accountant I swapped the numbers for some creativity to become a home-taught chocolatier. But, like a box of chocolates, starting a business hasn’t always been predictable, particularly during a pandemic. My friends will tell you I am a perfectionist, and I am still perfecting the art of being a chocolatier, and creating new flavours to delight everyone.
Making people happy is at the heart of it all, and something that makes me the proud parent of this business.
All of the packaging I use to present my chocolates is 100% recyclable.
I use Callebaut finest Belgian Chocolate for all of my Chocolate products.
In order to help shape a sustainable cocoa and chocolate future, Barry Callebaut established the Cocoa Horizons Foundation as a means to scale impact and drive on-the-ground change in cocoa growing communities.
Cocoa Horizons uses traceable cocoa beans , 100% sustainable.
Cocoa Horizons provide training on environmental protection and waste management, they sequester carbon through carbon positive practices on farm, and reduce off-farm emissions in farmer households. Through mapping they are making sure that the cocoa they source is not coming from protected or deforested areas.
Zero deforestation and carbon positive cocoa farming is strongly linked with lifting farmers out of poverty. Farmers earning a decent livelihood through improved cocoa production are far less likely to exploit new lands through deforestation. To ensure deforestation-free, all the farms are mapped via GPS polygons ensuring they are not in protected areas.
Cocoa Horizons use a combined landscape approach including forest protection, restoration, and agroforestry. Through this activity, they are not only restoring high value natural ecosystems, but they are also creating employment opportunities for local communities.
Cocoa Horizons Child Protection Campaign is working with Farmer Groups and cocoa communities to raise awareness around child labour issues and children's rights. Structures are in place and Cocoa Horizons are implementing, monitoring remediation programs in their efforts to eradicate child labour in the cocoa supply chain.
Cocoa Horizons vision of thriving cocoa communities is one in which all children can attend school and are protected from harmful work. Together with partners, they sensitize farming communities via radio programs, training and Cocoa Horizons truck events.
Cocoa Horizons engage communities via Child Protection Committees to raise awareness about child labour, to better understand its causes and develop constructive solutions.
Cocoa Horizons apply a risk based approach to prioritize and deploy child protection interventions where it's needed the most, by embedding increased due diligence across origins and engaging communities. While individual monitoring and remediation are critical, prevention activities are needed to tackle the root causes of child labour in the long term.
